Ah, so that’s what it does! A few other HacDC folks and I stopped by on June 14 and puzzled over it, not realizing there were two identical setups.
Yup! Unfortunately the mechanical quality of the bells was kind of poor, and people seemed to get a bit more violent with them toward the end of the show — every time I showed up I had to reseat the clapper because it had been rung violently. Ah well. Lesson learned!
We thought it was recording the rings! Or maybe that there was a hidden camera watching how people approached it.
We thought you were recording people’s conversations after they rang the bell. Never saw the second one – would have definitely helped if we had made it over to the other side of the gallery.
